U.S. might
use nukes in Iraq
While it seems
there is not yet a confirmed "smoking gun" on the issue
of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction (wmd), rumors and speculations
come and go, the last one being the possibility of U.S. using
nuclear bombs against underground bunkers allegedly hiding those
weapons.
We will not
know if Saddam really has wmd, until he uses them. So, why wait
until we see the fearsome mushroom raisging at any place in the
world? It is the logic in the Bush side.
As the Pentagon
continues a highly visible buildup of troops and weapons in the
Persian Gulf, it is also quietly preparing for the possible use
of nuclear weapons in the potential war against Iraq, according
to a report by a defense analyst article in The Los Angeles Times.
The analysis was also broadcaed by cable MSNBC tv and is available
in the Internet.
Although they
consider such a strike unlikely, military planners have been actively
studying lists of potential targets and considering options, including
the possible use of so-called "bunker buster" nuclear
weapons against deeply buried military targets, says analyst William
M. Arkin, who writes a regular column on defense matters for the
Los Angeles Times.
The fact that
even after the last "State of e Union" speech, no "smoking
gun" on Iraq's WMD has been produced in the most credible
and convincing way as to give a "free pass" to Pesident
Bush for his so much announced war against Saddam Hussein. And
this dead end situation could easily lead to a desperate decision
in a leader blinded by hyperpower and hate, and implode in an
action proper of a "nuclear maniac"ironically to save
the World of an evil dictator also allegedly turned in another
"nuclear maniac".
